Ian Condry

Co-Founder / Chief Anthropologist at Area4 Labs

Ian Condry has worked in various roles since 1988. Ian began their career as an Assistant English Teacher for JET - Japan Exchange and Teaching in 1988. In 2006, they became an Advanced Research Fellow for the US-Japan Program at Harvard University. In 2007, they joined MIT Women's and Gender Studies as an Affiliated Faculty. In 2009, they were appointed as the Associate Director of Comparative Media Studies. In 2017, they co-founded Area4 Labs Inc. and became the Chief Anthropologist. Ian has been a Professor of Comparative Media Studies and Writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 2002.

Ian Condry obtained a B.A. in Government from Harvard University between 1983 and 1987 and a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Yale University between 1992 and 1999.
