Melissa Tomsik has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Melissa started their career in 1991 at Duke University Health System, where they served as a Staff Registered Nurse, providing direct nursing care for post-operative cardiothoracic patients and functioning as a team leader. In 1995, they transitioned to the role of Clinical Research Nurse, coordinating cardiology clinical trials and completing case report forms.

In 1997, Melissa joined Duke Clinical Research Institute as a Clinical Research Associate II, conducting site monitoring visits and providing feedback to assigned sites and management personnel. Melissa later became a Senior Regional Clinical Research Associate, where they continued conducting site monitoring visits, ensuring data integrity, and orienting new clinical trial monitoring/coordinating staff.

In 2001, Melissa joined Covalent Group, INC as a Regional Clinical Research Associate, where they monitored study sites, verified data on CRFs, ensured drug accountability, and maintained ongoing communication with sites and sponsors. Melissa upheld FDA GCPs during all site visits. Melissa then joined Sanofi in 2003 as a Senior Regional Clinical Research Associate, where they had similar responsibilities and supervised study sites for adherence to protocols and SOPs.

From 2011 to 2018, Melissa ventured into a different field as the Co-Owner of Scenic Las Vegas Weddings. In this role, they played a key role in the management and operations of the business.

Melissa returned to the clinical research field in 2018, joining Emmes as a Clinical Research Associate and later transitioning to Novartis as a Lead Clinical Research Associate. During this time, they continued monitoring study sites, ensuring compliance with protocols, and verifying data.

Most recently, in 2021, Melissa joined IQVIA as a Clinical Trial Manager, where they oversaw clinical trials and managed project timelines. In 2022, they joined AreteiaTx as a Senior Project Manager, where they are currently responsible for project management.

Melissa Tomsik has a strong educational background in the field of nursing. Melissa first attended Watts School of Nursing from 1989 to 1991, where they obtained a Diploma in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. Following this, Melissa pursued further education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1992 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in the same field.

Additionally, Melissa holds a certification as a CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, which they obtained in April 2018.
