Marieke Louwers

Marieke Louwers, PhD has extensive work experience in the biotechnology and plant science industries. Marieke currently holds the position of Director Strategic Alliances at argenx, where they are responsible for managing strategic partnerships. Prior to this role, they worked at VIB as a Research Manager, where they played a crucial role in collaborations and partnerships with industry and academia. Marieke also has experience at BASF Plant Science and CropDesign, where they held various roles in research project management and senior scientist positions. Marieke'sexpertise lies in crop trait knowledge, yield biology, and technology management.

Marieke Louwers, PhD has an extensive education history. Marieke completed their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at Ghent University from 1998 to 2001. Marieke then pursued their Master's degree in Biotechnology at Ghent University from 2001 to 2003. Continuing their educational journey, Marieke obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Amsterdam from 2003 to 2008.

In 2010, they attended Vrije Universiteit Brussel for a program focused on Business and Biotechnology. Marieke then pursued several executive education programs at Vlerick Business School. In 2017 to 2018, they completed the Management Acceleration Program, followed by the Venture Capital and Private Equity program in 2018. Marieke later completed the Leading Change program in 2021. Additionally, Marieke also attended the Vlerick Business School from 2019 to 2021 for an Executive Master Class in Corporate Finance.
