They began their career in 2008 as a Junior Programmer for the State of Alaska's Department of Labor, where they supported the Unemployment Benefits system and managed web applications. They later transitioned into a Project Manager role, overseeing department-specific projects and coordinating inter-departmental initiatives. In 2012, Shannon worked as a Website Administrator for the State of Alaska's Department of Administration, maintaining the official state website and the division's Enterprise Technology Services website. They then joined the State of Alaska's Department of Commerce as an Analyst/Programmer II, where they worked on the implementation of the new State Based Systems project and collaborated with insurance staff to create reports. Shannon also worked as a Web Developer for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, assisting in the implementation of the Alaska State Agricultural Land Sale application. From 2017 to 2019, Shannon worked at FIS as a Security Analyst and System Administrator, performing incident response, firewall monitoring, and threat detection, among other responsibilities.
