Irene McKisson is a seasoned professional in journalism and media with extensive experience across various roles. Since August 2021, Irene has served as the Principal Executive at Arizona Luminaria, a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to local news and community-centered journalism. Additionally, since January 2016, Irene has been an Adjunct Instructor at The University of Arizona, teaching Editing at the School of Journalism. Irene's previous roles include General Manager of Niche Audience Development at Arizona Daily Star and Editor for This Is Tucson, where oversight of a team focused on young local women and families was key. Irene's early career at Arizona Daily Star spanned over a decade, holding positions such as Social and Audience Engagement Editor, Social Media Editor, Night Sports Editor, and Sports Designer. Irene holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from both the University of Arizona and the University of Oregon.
