Andrew Nelson

Senior Director, Foundation Development at ASU Foundation

Andrew Nelson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Starting in 2010, they worked as a Middle School Science Teacher at Imagine Schools, where they led a science cohort to significant improvement in state tests and secured scholarships for three students. Nelson then joined the Arizona Charter Schools Association as a Consultant, providing support and professional development to public charter and district schools to enhance teaching strategies and school leadership practices. During this time, they also authored improvement reports and conducted needs analyses. In 2017, Nelson joined Arizona State University as a University Innovation Fellow, managing special projects and strategic relationships. Andrew later became a Program Manager, designing and executing strategies for network development and advancement. In 2020, they took on the role of Senior Director, Shared Prosperity, focused on community-wide initiatives. Presently, Nelson is working as the Senior Director of Foundation Development for the ASU Foundation for A New American University, where they are responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies.

Andrew Nelson attended Gustavus Adolphus College and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Later, they matriculated at Arizona State University, where they pursued a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Secondary Education and Teaching. Additionally, Andrew earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree focusing on Leadership and Innovation, all from Arizona State University.
