Matt August

Matt August currently serves as the Artistic Director for Arizona Theatre Company since December 2022, and also directs various productions including "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas - the Musical" and the UK and North American tours of the same title. With a prolific career in directing, Matt has worked on multiple projects such as "The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord" and has directed productions of "Much Ado About Nothing" and "In the Heights" at Pioneer Theatre Company. Educationally, Matt holds a Master of Fine Arts in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management and Directing from the California Institute of the Arts, alongside a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Colorado Boulder. Matt's extensive experience in theatre includes notable works at Ford's Theatre, where significant adaptations and re-conceptions of classic musicals were executed.
