Catherine Lin has a diverse work experience that spans over different industries. Catherine started as a Deputy Program Manager at the United States Air Force, where they managed software development projects. Later, they worked as a Senior Programmer at Envista, overseeing website development and database design. Catherine then transitioned to Ardent Services, LLC as a Technical Operations Manager, where they managed Internet technologies and collaboration tools. Lin then moved on to J. M. Waller Associates as an Energy Manager, focusing on reducing energy consumption and managing energy efficiency projects. Currently, they are the Director of Facilities and Operations at Arlington Public Schools, where they oversee critical functions, budgeting, HR management, and energy efficiency projects.

Catherine Lin completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988. Catherine then pursued a Master of Science in Computer Systems at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology from 1993 to 1994. Prior to their university education, they graduated from Freedom High School in 1984. Catherine furthered their education by obtaining certifications in Dual Program Administrator in Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control from the Commonwealth of Virginia State Water Control Board, and Certified Energy Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers.
