John Pinion

John Pinion is currently an independent, non-executive director at Aroa Biosurgery. Prior to this, they were with Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. from July 2015 to September 2017 where they served as Chief Quality Operations Officer and EVP Analytical Sciences and Research.

As a member of the executive leadership team, John was focused on developing and advancing company strategy to include business globalization, culture, leadership, organizational capability and financials.

As Chief Quality Officer / SVP Analytical Sciences and Research, John led the development of the Global Clinical and Commercial Quality and Compliance organization and plans to include development of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Bioanalytic development capabilities.

John was also responsible for review, analysis and decision making across commercial filing & launch readiness, translational research programs / pipeline, clinical development and clinical portfolio review, technical operations planning and execution, business development activities and diligence, corporate compliance policy and activities, and IP review / strategy as an executive leader and cross functional team member.

John Pinion attended West Virginia University, where they earned their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. John later attended Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Education, where they received certifications in Finance and Accounting for the Non-financial Executive and Mergers and Acquisitions, Financing Innovation. John also has a certification from HSM in Special Management Program, Execution in Action with Larry Bossidy.
