Xuan Yang

Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry at Arrakis Therapeutics

Xuan Yang has a diverse work experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and chemistry. They started their career as a Chemist at WuXi AppTec in 2009 before moving on to work as a Research Scientist at Hisun Pharmaceuticals Ltd. from 2010 to 2012. During this time, they synthesized small molecule-based compounds for anti-tumor purposes. From 2013 to 2019, Xuan worked at the University of Manitoba as a Research Assistant, where they designed and synthesized aminoglycoside-based conjugates and tobramycin vectors to combat antibiotic resistance. They also served as a Teaching Assistant, teaching undergraduate laboratory courses and mentoring research project students. In 2020, Xuan became a Postdoctoral Researcher at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, where they focused on the discovery and inhibition of pathogenic SARS-like coronaviruses and the development of target engagement assays. Currently, Xuan is working as a Scientist at Arrakis Therapeutics.

Xuan Yang began their education journey in 2006 at Guizhou University, where they pursued a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry. Xuan completed their studies in 2009. Later, in 2013, Xuan Yang enrolled at the University of Manitoba, focusing on Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Xuan pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in this field, which they successfully completed in 2019.
