Xiaojun Liu has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology and research. They have held various positions in different companies and organizations, demonstrating their expertise in AAV platform development, process development, vector engineering, and drug discovery.
Most recently, Xiaojun Liu served as the Director and Head of AAV, Process Development at Arranta Bio, where they led a team in developing and executing upstream and downstream processes for viral vector production. They also managed technology transfer to manufacturing sites and authored regulatory-associated filing documents.
Prior to this role, Xiaojun Liu worked at EdiGene Biotechnology USA as the Associate Director and Head of AAV, Process & Analytical Development, Program Manager for Drug Development. In this position, they co-led pre-clinical lead identification and optimization, and managed the recruitment and development of the AAV team. They also contributed to cell line development for AAV reporter assay and potency assays.
Before joining EdiGene Biotechnology, Xiaojun Liu held the position of Investigator II and Program Lead at Luye Lifesciences USA, where they were responsible for AAV vector engineering, process development, and drug discovery. They played a key role in engineering and screening numerous AAV vectors and viruses for gene therapy lead candidates. They also developed platforms and processes for AAV production and purification.
Xiaojun Liu's work experience also includes roles at Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, University of Tennessee, and Cornell University. At these institutions, they contributed to various research projects related to AAV, vector engineering, microRNAs, and drug discovery.
In addition to their industry experience, Xiaojun Liu has served as an Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member at Springer Publishing, providing peer-review for manuscripts in the field of molecular biotechnology.

Xiaojun Liu completed a Ph.D. in Genetics at Fudan University. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Genetics and a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, both from Sichuan University. In terms of additional certifications, Xiaojun obtained a "GMP Ancillary Materials for Cell and Gene Therapy Manufacturing" certificate from Professional Advancement via Continuing Education (PACE) in March 2019. Additionally, they acquired a "Certificate in Applied Biostatistics" from Harvard Catalyst Postgraduate Education Program Online Courses and Resources in July 2017. They also completed several Coursera Course Certificates, including "Exploratory Data Analysis" in February 2017, "Getting and Cleaning Data" in December 2016, "R Programming" in November 2016, and "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" in November 2016.
