Michael Mullaney has over 25 years’ product development experience. In 1988, Michael was responsible for analysis and design of engine control and fluid management systems as an aerospace engineer for Hamilton Standard, a division of United Technologies. In 1991 he joined Marotta Scientific Controls as a member of the R&D department working on a variety of fluid controls and electromechanical systems for NASA, advancing to engineering manager of R&D and Design Engineering. In 2001, Michael left the aerospace field and formed a joint venture with the software company NetIDEAS to bring a self-conceived web enabled software solution for a hexapod fixator to Smith & Nephew. That software solution was introduced in 2002 and is still in use as spatialframe.com. In 2000, Michael became a co-founder of VisionMed, a company that developed an external fixation device and associated software. Michael co-founded ExtraOrtho in 2007, developing the ExtraFix External Fixation System that was acquired by Zimmer in 2011. He holds several patents for external fixation technology. Michael earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
