John Mattison is currently a UCSD Scholar in Residence focusing on Responsible AI and Advanced Technologies at UC San Diego, serving as an advisor to the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Project Resilient since May 2023. As an Operating Partner and Chief Medical Information Officer at Arsenal Capital Partners since June 2020, John Mattison brings extensive experience from a long tenure at Kaiser Permanente, where John Mattison has held roles as Assistant Medical Director and Chief Medical Information Officer since 1992. Notably, John Mattison directed the largest integrated Health Information System and Electronic Health Record in the United States, achieving project completion over a year ahead of schedule and $267 million under budget, contributing to Kaiser Permanente's HIMSS Level 7 designation and receiving the Davies Award in 2012. Prior experience includes serving as a consultant and the first practicing clinician on the SNOMED International Board from 1998 to 2005. Educational qualifications include studies at UCSB, UCSD, UCD, and UCSC from 2010 to 2018.
