Devin O'Brien CA(SA) has extensive work experience in the financial management and audit fields. They started their career as a Trainee Accountant at PKF South Africa, where they gained experience in statutory audit engagements and the preparation of financial statements. They later became an Audit Supervisor and took on managerial responsibilities, including managing audit teams and budgets.
In 2014, Devin joined PwC Cayman Islands as a Senior Associate, specializing in the audit of Captive Insurance Companies. They focused on Group Captive Insurance Companies and developed valuable expertise in this area.
In 2016, Devin joined Artex Risk Solutions as a Client Services Manager, where their responsibilities included managing a portfolio of Captive Insurance Companies domiciled in the Cayman Islands. They were particularly passionate about managing Group Captives with diverse member companies from various industries.
Currently, Devin is working at Artex Risk Solutions as the Vice President of the Financial Management Group Captives for North America, showing a progression in their role within the company.
Devin O'Brien CA(SA) obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika in 2012. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal between 2006 and 2008. Devin'ssecondary education was completed at Westville Boys' High School, where they earned a Senior Certificate with Distinction, including 6 'A' distinctions, from 2001 to 2005.
In addition to their education, Devin O'Brien CA(SA) obtained the certification of Chartered Accountant (South Africa) from SAICA CA(SA) in February 2014.
