Project Director And Teaching Artist - The Creative Curriculum at Arts Centre Melbourne

Chris Thompson has a diverse and extensive work experience. Chris started their career in 1996 at randomACTS, where they worked as a Freelance Writer, Director, Artistic Director, Project Manager, Teacher, and Consultant. In 2014, they joined Open Channel as the ScriptStart Programme Manager and also worked as a Writer/Co-Creator for the project "Bringing Our Stories Home." Chris also worked at Arts Centre Melbourne as a Project Director, Teaching Artist, and as a Teaching Artist since 1996. At Australian Catholic University, they were a Sessional Lecturer in various theater-related subjects starting from 2005. Chris served as a Panel Member for the Arts & Heritage Fund at Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation from 2009. Chris also worked as a Film Reviewer at Radio Vision Australia - Behind The Scenes and Cinephilia starting from 2014 and 2015 respectively. Chris Thompson was the President of the Green Room Awards from 2012 to 2016. Chris served as a Consultant for Outreach and Partnership Projects at Victorian College of the Arts from 2014 to 2015. Lastly, they were a part of the Artistic Directorate at Jigsaw Theatre Company from 2010 to 2013.

Chris Thompson completed a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Drama & Media Studies from Deakin University (Rusden) from 1979 to 1983. Additionally, they obtained a Masters in Screenwriting from VCA School of Film & Television from 2012 to 2013.
