David Wilkes is a thought leader on adapting to climate change and the risks of flooding. Currently, they work as an independent consultant, focusing on flood risks, flood resilience, and opportunities in environmental and civil engineering. Wilkes previously served as a Director and Associate Director at Arup from 2006 to 2023, and held the role of Area Flood Risk and Water Resources Manager at the Environment Agency from 1994 to 2006. They also held the position of President at CIWEM in 2011. Wilkes earned a BSc in Engineering Sciences from Durham University in 1976.
