Joe Eastman, P.E.

Joe Eastman, P.E. has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering field. Joe founded ARUtility in 2018 and currently holds the role of Founder. Prior to that, Joe worked at Lansing Board of Water & Light from 2014 to 2020, where they served as a Water Distribution Engineer. In this role, they managed major water service replacement projects, oversaw new development projects, and was recognized as an expert in GE Smallworld, the utilities Geographic Information System (GIS).

Before joining Lansing Board of Water & Light, Joe worked as a Gas Safety Engineer at Michigan Public Service Commission in 2013. From 2012 to 2013, they were a Staff Engineer at Eng., Inc., formerly known as Fitzgerald Henne & Associates, Inc.

Joe's earlier experience includes working at Holland Board of Public Works from 2010 to 2013 as a Water/Wastewater Services Engineering Specialist. In this role, they handled various responsibilities such as estimating, surveying, designing, bidding, and inspecting engineering projects. Joe also oversaw the work performed by consultants and contractors.

In 2008, Joe worked as an Engineering Intern at Ann Arbor Water Treatment Facility, gaining valuable experience in the field. Joe started their career as a Lab Assistant at Lansing Board of Water & Light from 2004 to 2007.

Joe Eastman, P.E. obtained their Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Michigan Technological University from 2004 to 2006. Joe then pursued further education and earned their degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from the University of Michigan between 2006 and 2009. Joe also holds a Professional Engineering License from NCEES, which they obtained in December 2014. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have additional certifications including an S-1 Water System Distribution Operator and Storm Water Operator, both obtained from MDEQ.
