Deanna Zurey Harrington has extensive work experience in the field of fire protection and healthcare. Deanna began their career in 1995 as a Wellness Specialist at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they conducted wellness tests primarily with firefighters. Deanna then worked as an Exercise Physiologist at Exempla Healthcare from 1998 to 2004. In 2004, they joined Cunningham Fire Protection as a Firefighter and later transitioned to the role of Fire Prevention Technician from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2011, Deanna worked as an Exercise Physiologist at Exempla Healthcare again. Deanna then joined the Arvada Fire Protection District in 2011, initially serving as the Life Safety Educator & Public Information Officer until 2015, and later as the Deputy Fire Marshal until 2018. Currently, they hold the position of CRR Chief at the Arvada Fire Protection District, starting in October 2018.

Deanna Zurey Harrington, MS, CFO, holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado Boulder. Deanna further pursued their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Kinesiology. Additionally, Deanna participated in the Public Service Leadership Program at the University of Denver.

In terms of certifications, Deanna has various qualifications. Deanna acquired the PIO Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence in June 2023. Deanna also holds the Chief Fire Officer Designation from the same institution since September 2021. Moreover, Deanna obtained the Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence in February 2018.

Furthermore, Deanna possesses multiple certifications related to emergency response and safety. Deanna is certified in various ICS (Incident Command System) levels including 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800, which were obtained from FEMA in an unspecified year. Deanna is also certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by the American Heart Association.

Additionally, Deanna holds certifications as a Child Passenger Safety Technician from Safe Kids Worldwide and as a Driver Operator from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Deanna is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) by the Colorado Division of Public Health and Environment. Moreover, Deanna obtained the Fire Inspector II certification from the International Code Council. Deanna is also certified as a Fire Instructor, Fire and Life Safety Educator, and Firefighter II by the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Furthermore, Deanna holds certifications in G290 Basic Public Information Office from FEMA, Haz Mat Ops from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, and Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
