Jarrod Parkes

Head of Mobile at Aryeo

Jarrod Parkes is the current Head of Mobile at Aryeo. Jarrod has also held the title of Senior Software Engineer at Aryeo, where they led native and non-native development of enterprise mobile apps, created automative build and distribution processes for hundreds of mobile apps, and built and maintained spec-driven API and toolchain. Jarrod also developed a public API for third-party partners. Prior to their work at Aryeo, Parkes was at Spur for just under two years, where they served as Developer Experience Lead and Mobile Lead. In these roles, they created a system that keeps design-first and code-first API creation in sync, built tools for automating the creation of client SDK libraries that expose Spur's internal APIs, overhauled engineering's infrastructure provisioning and system testing, converted an existing Ionic/Javascript mobile app into a native app for Android and iOS, and created a shared architectural pattern called "SpurFlow" used by native apps. Jarrod also automated unit/UI testing, mobile deployments, and infrastructure provisioning processes. Parkes has also been involved in a number of entrepreneurial ventures, including Collecting Dust Podcast (which they co-founded and for which they coordinated and recorded weekly podcast episodes, conducted topical research, organized show notes, and promoted the show on social media) and La Rue French Macarons (which they co-founded). Jarrod has also served as Mobile Lead at CommentSold and as Co-Founder and Back-End Developer at The Parkes Twins LLC. Finally, Parkes has also worked as Assistant System Administrator at the UAH Computer Science Department.

Jarrod Parkes has a Nanodegree from Udacity in iOS Development, which they completed in 2017. Jarrod also has a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in Computer Science with a Minor in Mathematics, which they completed in 2014. Finally, they have an Advanced Diploma with Honors from Bob Jones High School in Computer Science and Mathematics, which they completed in 2009.
