Whitney Merrill

Whitney Merrill serves as the Head of Global Privacy & Data Protection Officer at Asana, where responsibilities include overseeing global privacy, data governance, cybersecurity legal matters, and regulatory compliance while managing a team of attorneys and privacy program managers. Previously, Whitney held various roles including Data Protection Officer and Lead Privacy Counsel at Asana, Privacy and Data Counsel at Brex, and Privacy, eCommerce & Consumer Protection Counsel at Electronic Arts, where Whitney acted as the legal lead for incident and data breach responses. Experience also includes positions at the Federal Trade Commission and a research assistantship at the University of Illinois focusing on privacy and legal issues related to new technologies. Whitney's educational background includes a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law, a Master of Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Law from Trinity College-Hartford.
