Simon Mutunge

Simon Mutunge has a wealth of experience in the field of data science and IT. Simon began their career in 2016 as an IT Technician at Com21 Limited, where they were responsible for the deployment of the Digital Learning Program to public primary schools, the installation of devices in various primary schools, and the training of teachers on the curriculum installed on the devices by KICD. In the same year, they joined the International Potato Center (CIP) as a Communication & Knowledge Management, where they carried out preliminary data collection and advanced data cleaning, developed an E-Digest Newsletter, and prepared documentation for new and existing knowledge on the Sweetpotato project. In 2017, they began working as a Data Analyst at Nouveta Limited, where they developed chatbots using IBM Watson NLP, created dynamic dashboards using Power BI and ETL/ELT data pipelines, and created and configured data sources to be used for business analysis for both the clients and the company. In 2018, they joined Manpower as an IT Specialist, where they trained personnel on using Microsoft Dynamics Nav for their daily operations, developed KPI's to assess impact of the ERP system on company operations, and gained good interpersonal and communication skills. Simon then joined Chalman Analytics as a Lead Data Scientist, where they were responsible for planning projects, building data analytics models, and leading data mining and collection procedures. In 2022, they began working at Asante Financial Services Group as a Data Scientist.

Simon Mutunge has an extensive educational background. Simon completed a Bachelor's Degree in Informatics and Computer Science from Strathmore University between 2012 and 2016. Simon then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Business Intelligence || Data Science from Dalarna University, which they completed between 2018 and 2020. Simon also holds several certifications, including Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, Big Data Developer, Digital Advertising, and Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate, which they obtained in 2021 and 2017, respectively.
