Adeel Usman

Adeel Usman has a diverse background in data engineering and database administration. Adeel began their career in 2007 as an Oracle Developer at Superior Group of Colleges, where they were responsible for database programming, administration, and management. Adeel then worked at Genie Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., where they held roles as a Senior Database Administrator/Developer and Database Developer/DBA. During their time at Genie Technologies, they gained experience in Oracle installation, administration, database designing, data modeling, and supporting application development.

In 2014, Adeel joined IDM Analytics as a Database Team Lead, focusing on architecting large-scale data-warehousing database systems and setting up database replication and high availability configurations. Adeel then moved to World Vision in 2015, where they served as a BI-DBA Team Lead. In this role, they designed detailed dimensional models for the Finance and Marketing Data Warehouse, created functional and technical design documents, and collaborated with multiple departments to implement reporting requirements.

After their time at World Vision, Adeel joined 9 Spokes in 2017 as a Team Lead DBA/Data Engineer, leading a team in database administration and data engineering. Lastly, they worked at ASB Bank, initially joining as a DBA/NoSQL Engineer Specialist Coach and later becoming the Data Engineering Chapter Lead.

Throughout their career, Adeel has demonstrated expertise in data engineering, database administration, database design, and implementing backup and migration strategies. Adeel has experience with multiple database systems, including Oracle and SQL Server, and has worked on projects involving new technologies like Times Ten in-memory cache for Oracle and Hadoop clustering.

Adeel Usman completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences from COMSATS Institute of Information and Technology, attending from 2003 to 2007. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Oracle Certified Professional certification from Oracle in October 2009. In 2020, they obtained several certifications from Microsoft, including the AZ-300 Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, and Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications.
