Phil Swift

Phil Swift has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on consulting and technology. Phil began their career in 1986 as a project lead at Firemans Fund, where they were responsible for leading a team of developers in creating an insurance claims processing system. Phil then moved on to Visa International in 1992, where they served as department head for four years. In this role, they oversaw the development of several key projects, including the launch of Visa's first online payment system.

In 2012, Phil was hired by the State Fund of California as Chief Technology Officer. In this role, they were tasked with rebuilding the state's technology platform and reorganizing the IT department to make it more efficient and cost effective. Phil set an aggressive plan in place to streamline the technology footprint, moving to a more internet-based solution and introducing data mining to reduce fraud. Phil also implemented processes and procedures to closely manage the budget and reduce overhead.

In 2016, Phil left the State Fund of California to join Ascend as an insurance consulting partner. In this role, they provide guidance and advice to clients on a wide range of insurance-related issues. Phil is also a member of the Ascend Board of Directors.
