Chief Mission Aircrew Instructor at Ascent Flight Training

Ian Marshall GCGI has extensive work experience in the aviation industry. Ian began their career in 1988 as an Airloadmaster on the RAF C130 Hercules platform. Ian was qualified in both Air Transport (AT) and Tactical Support (TS) roles. In 2000, they transitioned to the role of Airloadmaster on the Tristar platform. Ian then became a Flight Instructor and AARI for rear crew personnel on the Tristar platform from 2004 to 2008. Following that, they served as a WSOp Crewman STANEVAL, responsible for standardization and evaluation of rear crew on the Tristar platform. In 2013, they became a WSOp Crewman Leader on 216 Sqn (Tristar). Ian managed a section of professional RAF Aviators and worked on operational theaters globally. Ian then transitioned to the role of WSOp Crewman Leader and Flight Instructor on the RAF BAe146CMk3 aircraft operated by 32 (TR) Sqn from 2014 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017, Ian worked as the RAF WSOp Cmn (FW) Chief Instructor at RAFC Cranwell, where they trained and managed a team of highly specialized instructors for fixed wing advanced training. Currently, they are the Chief Mission Aircrew Instructor at Ascent Flight Training, leading a team of Mission Aircrew and Airborne Specialist flying instructors delivering training for UKMFTS.

Ian Marshall GCGI attended Ashlawn School and Bishop Wulstan RC School Rugby for their early education. Ian later graduated from the City & Guilds Institute, where they earned a degree in Management. Ian furthered their education at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College, where they obtained an NVQ Level 4 degree in Leadership and Management. Additionally, they completed Command Management Training Level 1 & 2 at RAF College Cranwell.
