Johnathan Norris

Johnathan Norris is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in cybersecurity and information technology. Johnathan currently holds the position of Principal Security Engineer at Ascent Solutions, where they are responsible for implementing and improving security measures to meet regulatory and business needs. Prior to this, they worked at Black Hills Energy as an OT Cyber Security Engineer, Senior, where they utilized cyber threat intelligence to identify vulnerabilities and implement security controls.

Johnathan also has an extensive military background, having served in the United States Marine Corps as a Cyber Operations Chief. In this role, they led small teams in various military exercises, ensuring the deployment of effective cyber security and monitoring tools with zero loss of intellectual property. Johnathan also provided training in penetration testing methodologies.

Outside of their military and corporate roles, Johnathan co-owned The Escape Trials LLC, a successful escape room business. Johnathan played a key role in building the business from scratch and designed automation strategies using IoT device technologies. Before that, they worked as a Cyber Troop Team Lead and Cyber Troop Sergeant Major at Joint Communications Unit, conducting penetration tests and providing recommendations for security enhancements.

Additionally, Johnathan served as a CSFI Security Analyst as part of the Iraq-Afghanistan US Veteran CSFI Internship Program at Cyber Security Forum Initiative. Johnathan performed comprehensive security analyses and provided mitigation recommendations for enterprise-class networking environments.

Johnathan Norris has a BS in Information Technology with a concentration in Information Assurance & Cybersecurity from Capella University, which they obtained from 2021 to 2023. In addition, they hold several certifications, including Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst from EC-Council, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) from Offensive Security, Red Hat Certified System Administrator from Red Hat Inc., CompTIA A+ Certification from CompTIA, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)², which they obtained in 2014.
