Dr Lena Fritsch

Curator Of Modern And Contemporary Art at Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Dr. Lena Fritsch is the inaugural Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford, responsible for the care and development of post-1945 modern art collections and various international exhibitions. Fritsch has extensive experience as an interpreter and translator across multiple languages for cultural institutions and companies, including Tate Gallery and BMW AG. Previous roles include Guest Curator for the Mori Art Museum's Roppongi Crossing triennial and Assistant Curator at Tate, where significant exhibitions, such as those of Ai Weiwei and Alberto Giacometti, were co-curated. Fritsch's academic background includes a PhD in Art History with a focus on contemporary art and photography from the University of Bonn, alongside teaching experience at the Art Academy Münster.
