Robin Y.H. Chan

Dr. Robin Chan is the eldest son of Chin Sophonpanich and the Chairman of Asia Financial. He is also the Chairman of Asia Insurance and holds similar responsibilities in other subsidiaries. In addition to directorships of many other companies, he holds the position of Advisor to the Board of Directors of Bangkok Bank.

Born in Swatow, China, Dr. Chan was educated in Hong Kong and finished his formal education at New York's Graduate Institute of Banking. Dr. Chan received his Honorary Doctorate Degree of Laws from Pepperdine University, California in 1995 and was conferred with Honorary University Fellowships by Hong Kong Baptist University, the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology in 2010, 2011 and 2013 respectively.

Dr. Chan is very active in community affairs. He was elected as a deputy to the Chinese National People's Congress in 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003. He was also the Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce from 1998 to 2002, and currently is the Ex-officio Life Honorary Chairman. Furthermore, he held presidency of the Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce for several years. He is also the founding Chairman and current President of the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations.
