Abdul Abiad

Abdul Abiad is the current Director of Macroeconomics Research Division at Asian Development Bank. Abdul has been in this position since January 2015. Prior to this, they were an Economic Advisor at the ADB from January 2010 to December 2015. Abdul started their career as a Senior Economist at International Monetary Fund in January 2000 and held this position until December 2009 when they became Deputy Division Chief.

Abdul Abiad received a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines.

Abdul Abiad reports to Albert Francis Park, Chief Economist & Director General, ERCD. They are on a team with Cyn-Young Park - Director, Regional Cooperation & Integration Division, Joseph Ernest Zveglich - Deputy Chief Economist, and Elaine Swee Khian Tan - Advisor & Head, Statistics & Data Innovation Unit.
