Ria Butarbutar is an experienced professional with a strong background in environmental management and sustainable development. Currently serving as an Energy Transition Mechanism Research Carbon Consultant at the Asian Development Bank since January 2023, Ria also works as a Consultant for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on sustainable transport projects in Indonesia. Previous roles include Regional Consultant for the Department of Trade and Industry Philippines, where Ria contributed to the Development of the Sustainable Consumption Toolkit, and Program Manager for Environment and Natural Resources at the European Commission, overseeing various environmental programs. Ria's experience also includes managing clean development mechanism projects at PT. Pelangi Energi Abadi Citra Enviro and working on housing and infrastructure projects for donors and government agencies. Ria holds a Master of Science in Spatial Planning from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Indonesia.
