Shantanu Mitra

Shantanu Mitra currently serves as the Alternate Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank since August 2023. Prior to this role, Shantanu Mitra was the Head of Infrastructure and Urban Development at the British High Commission in India from April 2021 to June 2023. Additionally, Shantanu Mitra worked as a Senior Climate & Environment Adviser at DFID Asia Regional from April 2017 to April 2021, overseeing UK government's climate change initiatives in the Asia Pacific region. Previous positions include Senior Economic Adviser at DFID China, Team Leader for Climate Change & Development at DFID India, and Country Director for DFID Indonesia, managing significant development cooperation and strategy efforts. Early career roles included positions as an Economist at the Department of Health and as a Research Assistant at the World Institute for Development Economics Research in Helsinki. Shantanu Mitra completed studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
