Tony Payne serves as the General Counsel at GRID esports since September 2020, overseeing all legal matters for the organization. In addition to legal expertise, Tony is a marathon runner and serves as a brand ambassador for ASICS and ASICS Thailand, holding marathon records in Thailand and South East Asia, including an 8th place finish at the 2018 Asian Games. Previous legal roles include Senior Legal Counsel at Genius Sports from November 2016 to July 2018 and Solicitor at Bell Gully from March 2012 to August 2016. Tony also held secondment positions as Legal Counsel for Asahi Beverages and Woolworths Supermarkets in 2015. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geography from the University of Otago.
