Adam Carcella

Senior Associate Scientist at Asimov

Adam Carcella is a Senior Associate Scientist at Asimov. Adam was previously an Engineer II at Biogen from January 2020 to March 2022. Adam led and obtained internal funding on a technology innovation project to identify and modulate key gene markers to improve protein product sieving efficiency in the continuous perfusion process to improve product yield. Adam also leveraged multi-omics data to successfully modulate key glycan profiles of a Fc-fusion protein to improve clinical bioavailability via media additive additions. Carcella successfully formed and led a protein development sustainability team to help drive sustainable product development and evaluated the process mass intensity, carbon footprint, and recycling efficiency of a manufacturing process which provided insights to track and improve process sustainability.

From January 2018 to December 2018, Carcella was an undergraduate tutor at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering. Adam was also a Little Lab Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh from January 2018 to January 2020. In 2019, they were a Process Development Engineering Co-op at The Lubrizol Corporation from January 2019 to May 2019.

Adam Carcella studied chemical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, where they earned their bachelor's degree.
