Steve Von Stetina

Stephen Von Stetina is a Senior Scientist and Tech Lead of the Priority Cloning Team at Asimov, a position held since September 2021. Prior to this role, Stephen served as a Biological Research Scientist in the Sculpting Evolution Group at MIT Media Lab from July 2017 to August 2021, focusing on harnessing evolutionary processes to engineer beneficial organisms and biomolecules. Stephen's postdoctoral research at Harvard University and Huntsman Cancer Institute involved studies on epithelium formation and cell polarity under the guidance of Dr. Susan Mango. Stephen's earlier academic endeavors include a graduate program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where research centered on synaptic specificity in C. elegans, and a research technician role at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, investigating the bHLH transcription factor Twist in Drosophila muscle specification. Educational achievements include a PhD in Developmental and Cell Biology from Vanderbilt University and a BA in Biology from Drew University.
