The data we manage for pressure containment and safety equipment is often vast and varied. The challenge is amplified by the time in service of the equipment, which could easily be 20 years. The SAP Intelligent Asset Management suite is the only data model that allows organizations to manage this data and scale for local and global needs. The data is typically varied with a mixture of time or non-time-dependent data. Examples include OEM Design and Construction, Process and Operations, Inspection and Maintenance, Readings, Work History, Service History, and Repairs. The data could be stored in a non-structured format such as PDF, Word, or Hard Copies, but it can also be stored in structured tabular data like Microsoft Excel. We are now in the age of digitization and automation of work processes. Storing, managing, and analyzing such a diverse data set required a robust, scalable data model. SAP is well known for its Master Data offering and has increased this capability with the SAP Intelligent Asset Management suite. This master data extension allows organizations to store and manage the static data associated with their equipment and assessment and time-series-related data like manual readings and automated readings generated through instrumentation. This robust data model, extended and optimized by organizations like AsInt, provides a single data set for organizations to manage asset-intensive and critical safety, environmental, and production data without creating data silos. Once organizations have a robust and extended SAP Master Data set, they can truly start to manage a digital twin of their physical equipment. Before this innovation, organizations were forced to manage this data from multiple sources, making it impossible to generate a digital twin. Silo'd applications that persist the equipment information outside SAP Master Data increase the holes in the Swiss cheese model. To find out more, go to www.asint.net
