Elena Martin serves as the Jefa de Servicio de Cirugía General y del Aparato Digestivo at Hospital Universitario de la Princesa since March 2018. Concurrently, Elena Martin has held the position of Profesor Asociado de Cirugía at Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid since September 2000. In the Asociación Española de Cirujanos, Elena Martin has progressed through various leadership roles, including Vicepresidenta 1ª and 2ª, as well as Secretaria General. Additionally, Elena Martin serves on the Commission of Deontology at Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid and has been involved with the Grupo Español de Tumores Neuroendocrinos as Vicepresidenta and Vocal of the Junta Directiva. Furthermore, since September 2019, Elena Martin has contributed as Vocal of the Junta Directiva for the Capítulo Español of the International Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association.
