Maya Gupta currently serves as the Senior Director of Research at the ASPCA since March 2017 and is a Courtesy Research Assistant Professor at Florida International University from July 2021. Additionally, Maya Gupta is involved with the Banfield Foundation as a member of the Safer Together Advisory Committee, and contributes as a Historical Advisor for the American Psychological Association's Section on Human-Animal Interaction. Other roles include serving on the Animal Cruelty Advisory Council with the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and participating in the Steering Committee of the National Link Coalition. Previous academic positions include Adjunct Professor of Anthrozoology at Canisius College and Instructor for the Veterinary Forensic Sciences Program at the University of Florida. Maya Gupta held the role of Executive Director at the Animals and Society Institute from January 2014 to May 2016 and was Vice-Chair for the Cobb County Domestic Violence Task Force from January 2011 to December 2013. Maya Gupta earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and French from Columbia University, along with both a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Georgia.
