Melina Nolas

Program Manager, Puppy Mill Initiative

Melina Nolas is currently a Program Manager for the Puppy Mill Initiative at the ASPCA, where responsibilities include supporting legislation and litigation to protect dogs in puppy mills and promoting awareness through various media. Prior to this role, Melina served as a Program Associate for the Puppy Mill Initiative at the Animal Welfare Institute, where research and strategic planning were key functions. Previous experience includes working as an Animal Caretaker at Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Inc., caring for various animals, and an internship focusing on great apes at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Melina's early research work involved studying wild baboons at Duke University and conducting fieldwork on ring-tailed lemurs in Madagascar. Academically, Melina holds a Master of Science in Animals and Public Policy from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and a Bachelor of Science in Evolutionary Anthropology from Duke University.
