Shaun Laidlow

Engineer II, Mechanical Engineering at Aspect Biosystems

Shaun Laidlow is currently a Mechanical Engineer at Aspect Biosystems. Prior to this, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at SICPA from April 2016 to January 2021, where they were responsible for the design, development, prototyping, and implementation of all mechanical parts, assemblies, mechanisms, and jigs developed by Sicpa Services Canada. Shaun also created engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and test documentation for the manufacturing and assembly teams. Additionally, Shaun developed quick mechatronic prototypes to test functionality of mechanisms before involving electrical teams, and they also developed products that performed and tested the device in a life cycle setting.

Before working at SICPA, Shaun was a Motion System and Material Handling Design Engineer at Pavac Industries from May 2015 to August 2015. There, they designed a completely new XY and Runout Table for the Electron Beam Welding Machines. This new design simplified the manufacturing and assembly process in comparison to the original table. Shaun also provided GD&T standard drawings of all parts such that the System was ready to be built.

Shaun’s first job was as an Information Technology Assistant at the District of West Kelowna from May 2013 to August 2013.

They are on a team with Usama Khan - Lead Software Engineer, Cesar Alcala - Applications Scientist, and Michael Weiss - Manufacturing Technician. Their manager is Simon Beyer, CTO.
