Kristina Scala

CEO, Founder, & President at Aspen Academy

Kristina Scala has extensive work experience in the education field, particularly in founding and leading various organizations. In 2004, they founded Aspen Academy and held the roles of Founder, President, and Head of School. Kristina established the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute in 2012, where they served as Founder and Executive Director. Additionally, Scala founded Bear's Student Enterprises in 2008, a unique program that enabled 8th graders to manage various business ventures on campus. Kristina was also the President of the Aspen Academy Investment Fund starting from 2011. Prior to their work at Aspen Academy, they were the Principal of Meritor Academy from 2000 to 2004. In 2019, Scala became an Official Member of the Denver Business Journal Leadership Trust.

Kristina Scala obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Educational Leadership from The Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration from California State University, Chico, which they completed between 1986 and 1989.

In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained various certifications. In 2023, they became an Ambassador for The Better Arguments Project. In 2017, they became a Certified IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) Administrator through IDI, LLC. In 2016, they completed the Entrepreneurial Masters Certificate Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kristina also holds certifications in the "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and Families" from FRANKLIN COVEY CO, obtained in 2011, and "Parenting with Love and Logic" from Love and Logic LLC, obtained in 2010.
