Thor Nelson

Thor Nelson is Chief Operating Officer of Aspen Waste Systems. He is responsible for the operations of all divisions of the company. Thor joined the company in 2009, and under his leadership, Aspen has experienced significant growth and expansion. In 2010, Aspen Waste Systems of Iowa was created. He has also overseen the development of two new satellite facilities in the Twin Cities and St. Louis areas. To support this growth, Thor has led the development of Aspen’s Service Center, located in Des Moines, which performs payment processing, billing, and other administrative services for all the local operating companies. Prior to joining Aspen, Thor was an executive at Allina Health, a large integrated healthcare system based in Minneapolis. He worked at Allina Health’s Mercy Hospital, one of the nation’s top heart hospitals, where he had responsibility for cardiovascular, imaging and various outpatient departments. Thor has a master’s degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College.
