Gary Schnitkey

Gary Schnitkey is Co-founder of Habiterre. Dr. Schnitkey is a renowned expert in agricultural risk management with a special focus on crop insurance evaluation and farm-level finance management. He is the Soybean Industry Chaired Professor of Agricultural Strategy at the University of Illinois. Dr. Schnitkey is the lead author of Farmdoc, and the co-developer of the widely-used FAST tool (Farm Analysis Solution Tools) in performing financial analysis, assessing investment decisions, and evaluating the impacts of various farm management decisions. He has frequently given policy suggestions to USDA Risk Management Agency and has strong professional connections to the crop insurance and agricultural finance industries national-wise. Dr. Schnitkey got his BS at Ohio State University, and his MS and PhD at University of Illinois, all degrees are in agriculture economics. He is also a four-time winner of Agricultural & Applied Economics Association’s (AAEA) Distinguished Extension/Outreach Award. (2002, 2014, 2016 and 2018)
