Ian Ross has an extensive work history in the aerospace industry. Ian began their career in 2007 as a Research Intern at Centre National d'Études Spatiales, where they analyzed instrument errors and drifts in satellites. From 2008 to 2010, they worked as a Graduate Assistant Researcher at the University of Dayton, leading aerodynamic design assessments and operating a wind tunnel. In 2011, Ian joined Lockheed Martin as an Associate Research Engineer, where they modeled flight vehicle dynamics and performance. Ian then advanced to the role of Systems Engineer, leading major program reviews and conducting flight analysis. In 2015, Ian joined ASRC Federal as an Aerospace Engineer Staff, then became a Senior Systems Engineer and ultimately a Principal Systems Engineer. In this role, they lead a team responsible for spaceflight operations and maneuver planning for the NOAA/USSF Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES/EWS-G) constellation. Ian works with various government and civilian agencies to maintain space situational awareness.
Ian Ross has a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Dayton, obtained from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) Honors degree in Aeronautical Engineering from The University of Salford, spanning from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, they participated in an Erasmus Exchange program at Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) in Mechanical Engineering, from 2006 to 2007. Ian also holds various certifications in Python programming and data retrieval, processing, and visualization from Coursera Course Certificates, earned in 2015 and 2016. Ian is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng) certified by the Engineering Council in 2015.
