Deep Learning Researcher at Assembly AI

Yash Khare has a diverse range of work experience, starting in 2018, as a Member and Mentor for the FOSS@Amrita club. They actively participated in events and aided in organizing them until October 2022. In 2019, Yash became a GitHub Campus Expert, serving until August 2022. Starting in 2020, Yash was a MLH Fellow for Major League Hacking, completing 6 sprints. Additionally, in 2020, they worked as a Google Summer of Code'20 Student Developer for Mifos Initiative, where they trained single shot detection models and achieved an object detection accuracy of 91.3%. In 2021, Yash was a Research Assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, exploring adversarial robustness techniques. They also joined the SRC Research Scholars Program to work on designing efficient hardware accelerators for autonomous driving vehicles. Yash was further involved with the Wikimedia Foundation as a Google Code-In Mentor in 2019 and in FOSSASIA as a Google Code-In Mentor, Contributor, and Android Developer Intern from 2018 to 2020. They contributed to various projects, including Phimp.me and Badge Magic Android, while developing hardware simulations and implementing new features. In 2021, Yash was a Research Team Lead at the Tech4Good Lab at the University of California, Santa Cruz, researching the use of reinforcement learning for analyzing economic situations in apprenticeship learning. Recently, in 2022, Yash joined AssemblyAI as a Deep Learning Researcher, specializing in speech recognition and NLP APIs.

Yash Khare has a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Computer Science from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Yash attended St. Joseph's Academy in Dehradun from 2006 to 2018, where they completed their high school education. In 2020, they took two online courses related to self-driving cars at the University of Toronto: "State Estimation and Localization for Self-Driving Cars" and "Introduction to Self-Driving Cars."

Yash Khare has obtained several certifications in addition to their formal education. In 2022, they participated in "Research Week with Google" at Google. In 2021, they attended the "Eastern European Machine Learning Summer School" at EEML and completed the certifications "Deep Learning: A hands-on Introduction" and "Regularisation methods for Machine Learning" at MaLGa - Machine Learning Genoa Center. In 2020, they attended the "AI Singapore Summer School" at AI Singapore. Yash Khare also achieved the 2nd place in the FOSSASIA-UNESCO hackathon in the IBM Cloud category in 2019 and qualified for Round 1B in SnackDown 2019, organized by CodeChef. Yash also participated in the KWoC (Kharagpur Winter of Code) program organized by the Kharagpur Open Source Society in 2019.
