Michael Hammond

Michael Hammond is a seasoned maritime professional with extensive experience in vessel traffic management, navigation, and maritime safety. Currently serving as AHM(VTS) and VTS Watch Manager at Associated British Ports since January 2020, Michael has previously held roles as a Trainer at GTT Training Ltd and as a Chief Officer and Second Officer at Shell from September 2008 to January 2019. Throughout this tenure, Michael was responsible for navigation, passage planning, and compliance with maritime regulations, while also supporting the Global Maritime Security Assurance Team. Early career experiences include positions as Third Officer and Trainee Officer at Warsash Maritime Academy and management as Out of Hours Supervisor at Dixons Retail. Michael holds a BSc in Sustainable Maritime Operations from the University of Plymouth and multiple qualifications from Warsash Maritime Academy.
