Andrew Standring

Chairman at Associated Energy Services

Andrew is a co-founder and the Chairman of Associated Energy Services (Pty) Ltd. He is a Chartered engineer with strong energy plant modelling and energy plant project management and operational experience including biomass fired power stations, and has spent a number of years consulting to industry in the field of steam generation (with various fuels and plant types) to the efficient use of energy, and energy auditing and mapping.

Prior to joining AES, Mr Standring was the overall project coordinator of the First phase Bale and Rail Project for The Cape Town City Council. The project involved the modelling of operating costs for the various options for the handling, processing and transportation of municipal solid waste from Athlone Transfer Station to Vissserhok Landfill site. Including the draughting of tender documents for the mechanical processing plant and vehicles required for the project. This was followed by project management of contractors and Council consultation. This project was the lead-in to the next phase which culminated in over 800 tonnes solid waste per day being transport by rail to the landfill site.

He formulated the management buyout of AES in 2004, and subsequent restructure and selection of the board of Directors over which he now presides. Other experience includes the gas turbine, water desalinisation, gasification and energy storage technology.
