Derl McCrudden

Vice President Of News, And Head Of Global News Production at The Associated Press

Derl McCrudden has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of journalism and news production. Derl began their career as a Newsroom journalist at Scottish Television (STV) in 1992. Derl then worked at ITN as a Programme and News Editor, handling foreign news stories and traveling to cover breaking news events. McCrudden later joined Al Jazeera English as a Bureau Chief and Executive Producer, where they oversaw news coverage in Asia Pacific and played a key role in the launch of AJE. Derl also worked at CNBC Asia as a Senior Producer for Squawk Box. McCrudden then joined ITN Consulting as a Journalist and Consultant, where they worked on broadcast news and television training projects. In 2010, they joined The Associated Press and held various roles including Head of Newsgathering, AP Television News, and Deputy Managing Editor for Video and Audio. Currently, McCrudden is the Vice President of News and Head of Global News Production at The Associated Press.

Derl McCrudden obtained a Bachelor's degree in Politics from The University of Edinburgh between 1988 and 1992. In 2015 and 2016, they attended the Columbia University - Graduate School of Journalism as a Fellow in the Punch Sulzberger Program.
