Michael Tackett

Michael Tackett is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in political reporting and editorial leadership. Currently serving as Deputy Washington Bureau Chief at The Associated Press since June 2019, Tackett previously held prominent positions such as National Political Reporter at The New York Times from December 2013 to June 2019, Managing Editor at Bloomberg LP from August 2008 to December 2013, and Washington Bureau Chief at the Chicago Tribune from January 2005 to July 2008. Earlier in the career, Tackett was the National Editor at US News & World Report from January 2001 to January 2002. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Journalism and Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington.
