Darlena Jones, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in higher education. Darlena spent their entire career in this field, aiming to enhance student success. Darlena started working as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University in 1993, where they taught quantum electrodynamics and conducted research on figure-eight fiber-ring lasers. In 1997, they joined Missouri State University as a Visiting Assistant Professor and continued teaching until 2004. In 1998, they joined EBI MAP-Works as the Director of Education and Program Development, leading national benchmarking assessments in higher education. Finally, in 2014, they began working at the Association for Institutional Research as the Senior Director of Analytics, Research, & Education, focusing on improving student success.
Darlena Jones, Ph.D. began their education at Missouri State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Engineering Physics from 1983 to 1987. After completing their undergraduate studies, they enrolled at Oklahoma State University from 1987 to 1993, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Physics. Their educational background showcases expertise and specialization in the fields of mathematics, engineering physics, and physics. In addition to their academic achievements, Darlena also holds a certification in Cybersecurity Awareness: Phishing Attacks, which they obtained from LinkedIn in August 2023.
