Heather Engel Apr

Heather Engel, APR has worked as the Director of Communications at the Association of California Water Agencies since November 2017. Previously, they served as the Director of Communication & Conservation at the Coachella Valley Water District from 2009 to 2017 and as a Communication Specialist from 2004 to 2009. Earlier in their career, Heather worked as a Local Editor at The Desert Sun from December 1999 to February 2004.

Heather Engel, APR has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Journalism from Humboldt State University, which they obtained between 1990 and 1994. In addition to their bachelor's degree, they possess various certifications and completed programs. These include obtaining Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA) Universal Accreditation Board in September 2021. Heather also holds a Certificate of Completion from Leadership California, which they obtained in November 2020. Furthermore, they completed a Certificate of Completion in Leadership Development for Women from the American Management Association in September 2015 and a Certificate of Completion from Leadership Coachella Valley in June 2015. Heather Engel also has certifications from Toastmasters International, achieving the status of Competent Communicator and Competent Leader in 2011. Lastly, they received a Certificate of Completion in Successfully Managing People from the American Management Association in March 2009.
