Tom Spender

Tom Spender is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the financial services and regulatory sectors. Currently serving as a Non-Executive Director at NHS Resolution since January 2025, Tom also holds the position of General Counsel for Retail Banking at Lloyds Banking Group, where responsibilities include leading the legal function and engaging with executive committees. In addition, Tom serves as a Regulatory Board Lay Member and Non-Executive Director at ACCA since January 2022. Previous roles include Director of Retail and Regulatory Investigations at the Financial Conduct Authority and various leadership positions within M&G and the Financial Services Authority. Tom began a career in law as a solicitor at Allen & Overy and Allens Arthur Robinson. Tom holds a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Economics, both with first class honours from The University of Queensland.
